Major road works force Challenge Rimini date change

Sunday 11 May 2014

The recently announced closure for repair of two major bridges of Rimini have necessitated the rescheduling of Challenge Rimini to Sunday 11 May 2014.

Challenge Rimini race director, Alessandro Alessandri, said the resulting traffic congestion from the road works would make it unsafe to run the event on the original date of 10 May and the police have ordered the race to move by 24 hours to the Sunday.

“We have presented a number of alternative courses but unfortunately none of them have been accepted,” said Allessandri.  “Therefore we have no choice but to let all athletes know about the new timetable for the weekend. We apologise for this change and did all we could to try and prevent it but now it is out of our hands and it is the best solution for the safety of the athletes. We are here to help with any of your logistics surrounding the date change, please just get in touch with the office at”.

The revised timetable will see the Grand Prix Italia sprint distance, Open sprint, junior duathlon and paaratriathlon taking place on Saturday 10 May with the half distance Challenge Rimini taking place on Sunday 11 May. All timings will remain the same. Please visit for details.
